I know this is nothing new. The moon. We’ve all seen it. But for those who don’t own a telescope, you rarely get a chance to see it up close in person.

Imagine my surprise when I looked at it through a recently purchased 3oomm telephoto. With a crop factor of 1.6 for Canon, that makes the adjusted focal length 480mm! Not that I”m expecting to see the space station fly over or anything, but it shows how a different lens can open new ways of looking at a subject.

I shoot a lot of wide angle views, but this new lens reminds me that the many perspectives of photography is what keeps it fresh, fun and exciting.
