Union Pacific 844 is a 4-8-4 steam locomotive owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Built in 1944, it was the last steam locomotive delivered to Union Pacific and is the only steam locomotive never retired by a North American Class I railroad.
The weather on the morning I saw this beast on display was great, but the location was cramped and too small to show it off appropriately. I wish they had fired it up so we could have seen the steam rising from this Living Legend.
I feel your pain, Tim. Getting a decent shot of the whole engine can be very difficult at times especially considering the size (and there are always people in the way :-;). I have found that detail shots are sometimes the only possibilities. You did have some great light, though, so I am glad you made the most of it and came up with this nice image.
