A college campus is a very busy place during the day. But late at night (early morning actually), only the most die-hard students can be found crossing the campus, returning to their dorm or some other destination. Such was the case on this night when we visited Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX. This campus has a mixture of old and new architecture that finds its way between the large pine trees of east Texas. The “Rusk Building” is named after Thomas Jefferson Rusk, a famous political and military leader of the Republic of Texas, a general at the Battle of San Jacinto and later a US Senator from Texas.

Sitting across from the contemporary Baker Pottillo Student Center, it still holds its own in grandeur and respect.
