Driving across Tower Bridge affords you a view of the old and new London has to offer. The WWII ship, the HMS Belfast is moored on the south bank of the Thames alongside a uniquely shaped building that houses City Hall. The tall skyscraper in the distance is the Shard. Standing 1,016 feet high, it opened on July 5, 2012 during our trip and is now the tallest completed building in Europe.

The Olympic rings had just gone up on Tower Bridge the night before we first saw it, but only seeing it from a moving tour bus did not afford me a great view from which to photograph it.
