Leaving Washington D.C., our family stopped at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport. This is an incredible museum and well worth the trip out to see it.

We were preparing to leave and I looked up and saw the Boeing B-29 Superfortress “Enola Gay”. I didn’t even know it was there! The planes are parked all over the place and hanging from the ceiling, so it’s easy to miss something. This vantage point is on an upper walkway actually looking through a piece of thick plexiglass. I guess they think it’s too close to the walkway. Like most places we visited, I would have liked to have spent the day there, but there’s always somewhere else to rush off to.

Be sure to take a wide angle lens for any aviation museum, if you hope to include the major part of a plane in the frame.
