All photographers know that you have to shoot a lot of photos to sort out the few that you really like. That doesn’t mean the others are bad though. Most folks might think they are great, but as a photographer develops a style or preference they can become their own worst critic. So they shoot a lot, just to show off a few. Heck, everyone gets lucky once in a while, so the more you shoot, the better your odds. Try shooting a subject like a sunset though, where you only have a limited time and you feel privilege to walk away with just one image you like.
