I remember the first time someone mentioned going to the swamp, I was a bit hesitant. The thought of wading in or just visiting an area with alligators didn’t sound like the smartest of ideas. But first impressions are usually wrong. In fact, it’s quite an interesting day trip. Brazos Bend State Park is a natural habitat for all kinds of wildlife. Every time you visit, it has a different look and feel. Each season of the year, the time of day and even the weather effect what you see, how the plants look and what animals are out and about. It’s such a large park, that there are many sections to explore and see. They even have an observatory for night time star gazing.

On one early morning visit, all was pretty quite and only a few visitors had arrived, leaving the visitor walkways empty, except for one lone bird way in the distance.
