Alligators are very patient. They have to be. More times than not, they have to wait for dinner to get close enough to pounce on their unsuspecting prey. Sure, alligators swim, very slowly and can sneak up on their target, but occasionally, something will swim by or land in the area close enough for them to strike. 

Right now it’s mating season and alligators can be found in neighborhood lakes and areas where you don’t normally find them. Their population in Texas has grown rapidly lately, so check your pool before you leap. Otherwise, you might get more than you bargained for.
