Just before my family’s last vacation, I was able to pick up a new telephoto lens. It was just in time to break it in on some sunsets and sunrises on Pensacola Beach in Florida. Most of my photography has been with wide angle lenses, so using this lens was a real treat.

It’s like getting a new paint brush. You’re still painting, but it gives you an entirely different perspective on seeing things and what you can do. The only downside is now i need to carry two cameras. I still want the wide angle perspective, while at the same time the close-up view of the strong telephoto. Decisions, decisions.

This sunset is looking towards the Gulf Islands National Seashore, a large preserve on the west side of the island and home of Fort Pickens, far past the high-rise condos.
