Growing up in Houston, I went up through the ranks of the public school system. Then for many reasons,  I stayed in town when it was time to go to college. When I first started attending the University of Houston, I quickly discovered that it was going to be just as challenging as any other college might have been. Working too many hours at a part time job didn’t help the GPA much either. But they were kind enough to give me a diploma and send me on my way. 

That was many years ago. I recently toured the campus again and though much has changed around the perimeter, much of the main buildings are as I remember. The Ezekiel W. Cullen Building and fountains are one of those “post card” shots that everyone takes, so I had to make sure I did too.
