There are times when our attention is drawn to something beautiful and we find ourselves staring at it for a length of time. We start out enjoying the attraction to the scene, but after several minutes we begin to contemplate or meditate on something that has crept into our thoughts. It may be an important issue or challenge we are currently facing. Or it might just be looking back on past events and  life in general.

After a short while, we snap back to the present, hoping that no one has noticed the blank stare on our face. We once again appreciate the scene in front of us and the moment of peace and contemplation.

This is a sunset over McGovern Lake in Hermann Park, in Houston, Texas. We stopped by here after an hour or two at the Houston Zoo.
