Okay, I know what you’re thinking. A photo of a clock. Big deal. Well, you might be right. But my guess is, when this clock was installed most people didn’t have smart phones with clocks, or wrist watches for that matter. (Kids, ask your parents what they are.)  It performed a useful function that many people would stop and check throughout the day. It is design elements like this clock that give a city its character. Elements like what type of light poles or traffic lights are used. Are they the bright shiny, metallic type, or black, painted with a bit of curvy accents or embellishments? Take a closer look at your town and see if you can identify the details that make it unique.

This fine clock can be found on Canal Street in New Orleans, not far from the Mississippi River. It still offers passerbys the time as they stream past on foot, auto or trolley car.
