If you have ever played tourist in New Orleans, then no doubt, you have walked through Jackson Square. This historic square is anchored by St. Louis Cathedral and is the site of everything from treaties to executions. Now, it’s a popular tourist destination, not to mention Café du Monde across the street, whose line wraps around the block for a taste of café au lait, prepared with chicory, and beignets.
But if you venture out at night and walk around back, you can see a statue of Jesus Christ, standing with arms raised as if to invite all to come. An interesting note, he lost his left thumb and forefinger during Hurricane Katrina. Some call it the Touchdown Jesus, but you probably already thought of that.
