I write this post as the last shuttle flight is in progress. Atlantis is in space for the last shuttle flight. Ever. I’m a strong supporter of the space program and am concerned that our country does not have another program in place to immediately continue manned space flight. The shuttle has been an overwhelming success, despite two tragic flights.  It’s also upsetting that Houston (mission control for all manned space filghts) will not receive any of the shuttles once retired. I can’t think that politics didn’t play a huge roll in that decision. Just another reason why I’m not a fan of politicians. (Did I say that out loud?)

I have never had the privilege of viewing an actual launch or landing in person, so seeing the Enterprise at the National Air and Space Museum at the Udvar-Hazy Center was a real treat. Daryl Clark has a great shot of the front of the Enterprise here too.
