No trip to Washington D.C. would be complete without a view of the White House.  We “stumbled” upon it when we noticed it through the trees from the Washington Monument. It was a nice walk down to the street blocked from automobile traffic. Barricades were everywhere. It was not quite the same scene when as a boy, we had driven past it on a one-day trip through town. Just the same, I felt fortunate to be able to see it on such a pretty afternoon.
