As a city grows, new buildings are erected where older buildings once stood. Occasionally, some are saved for their historical value. It has only been recently that some cities have come to recognize the value of their older historical structures and are taking steps to protect them from demolition. However, many other beautiful old buildings have already been lost to “progress”.
The modern skyscrapers of downtown Houston rise behind the charming Julia Ideson Building, part of the Houston Public Library. This is a great example of a building worth keeping.
