Friday evening I had an opportunity to drive out to the country with a friend and take some photos of horses. It sounded like an easy shoot, but no one told me horses have minds of their own. Though it proved a bit more challenging than I expected, I had a ton of fun and appreciated the opportunity to try something new. Many thanks to Betty Anne for having us out and to David for letting me tag along.

I haven’t been around horses in years and it was just plain fun to be out of the city and enjoy watching these beautiful animals. Like people, they each have their own personalities. It’s fun to watch them in a group and how they interact. They were a bit curious of us too, as we walked among them in the pasture. It was fun trying to line our shots up, just to have the horses move when you were about to press the shutter. The evening sun and the backlight it created occasionally brought out some great details too.

Among the horses was one donkey who just fit right in with the rest of the group. He might have been a little smaller, but I don’t think he knew that.
