On a recent trip to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, I had a chance to see their anechoic chamber. It’s a room lined with sound absorption spiked walls, preventing sound from bouncing and eliminate echoes. After a few moments in one, you can start to hear your own heartbeat.
This partial display was about the Phased Array Antenna Analysis and Testing on the Crew Exploration Vehicle. Since it’s obvious what that’s all about, I won’t go into detail. Just suffice to say, it was a very large, cool looking room.
