Fountains are a lot of fun to shoot at night, but are a bit of a challenge. If they aren’t lit on the outside, it’s hard to get good detail. If the water is lit, then the high contrast can be a challenge too. But that’s when HDR photography really stands out. I’m constantly (pleasantly) surprised at how much detail and color an HDR sequence can create. In some cases, more than what you can see yourself. This scene was rather dark, except for the building lights in the background and the lights in the water.
This fountain can be found in the plaza beside Jones Hall in downtown Houston.
