Wooden buildings usually do not last for centuries like stone or brick buildings do. The elements and insects may take their toll, but fire is the biggest enemy of these old structures. This is why you do not see many old wooden churches in Europe.
Saint-Catherine’s Church, in the beautiful town of Honfleur, France, is one of the few wooden churches left. The possibility of fire is why they built the church bell-tower a good distance away, just in case it was to get hit by lightning. This is the two naves inside.
