They say the eye is attracted to color. That explains a lot.
It starts at a young age. The innocent children walking past the brightly colored gumball machine are the unknowing target. They are helpless. A child has no natural defense against the sugary, colorful gumballs sitting in a glass container for all to see. They call to their parents, pleading for the coins to make the final connection to the colorful confection.
But alas, the all-knowing and wise parent pulls their child away from the colorful temptation. It’s often not a pretty sight. The child wining or crying, pleads for the coin. Some weak (or very tired) parents succumb to the pressure, but those of a stronger constitution hold their ground and pry their child away to a safe distance.
The child, not easily defeated, regains their composure. After all, the toy store is right around the corner.
