Some years are better than others and some years can be a bit more challenging. 2013 for our family was a mixture. Like most of you, we had our times that tested us in more ways than I care to recount, but there were also many great times I will look back on fondly.

Last year this time, I mentioned that the present is a present. I try to remember this while understanding that I can not control or fix everything too. The popular Serenity Prayer (reprinted below) is something I am trying to recall more often.

From a photographic standpoint, I have made some great friends that I enjoy shooting with and hope to continue our photo excursions. My friends keep me motivated, challenged and shooting. Thank you for joining me as I continue this photographic journey and I hope that 2014 will be a happy, healthy and prosperous year for all.

Goodbye 2013. Hello 2014.

The Serenity Prayer
 by Reinhold Niebuhr

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.

Amen.
