Walking around the zoo last week, I was attempting to shoot some large exotic bird that wasn’t cooperating. Off to the side of the cage, I noticed this little bird that was coming and going as its leisure. It would help itself to the bird feed of his distant cousin, then fly to and sit on the wire fence. He would fly away for a few moments, then quickly return for more feed. At least it looked like the same little bird. Maybe it was his brother, then his uncle, then sister… you get the idea.
I’m ashamed to say that I wasn’t carrying my North American Aviary Pocket Identification Guide (is there such a book?), so I’m not sure what this little guy (girl) is. Maybe you know? Anyway, he seemed to be having a great time flittering about.
