We all know that everything is bigger in Texas, especially the cattle. The breed everyone instantly recognizes is the longhorn. It’s so popular that the University of Texas in Austin mascot is a real longhorn named Bevo. It’s hard to imagine how long those horns really are until you see one in person. 

This sculpture is “Maverick, the Spirit of Texas” by Billie Evans in the Houston Zoo. The light wasn’t great on this hazy, overcast morning when this was taken, but sometimes you just have to take what you can get.
