Looking down from a back balcony at the Fisherman’s Wharf in Galveston, you can appreciate how large a big ship the Elissa is, especially compared to the buildings by the dock. Seeing the ship up close and all the rigging it takes, you can only imagine how much coordination it must require from its crew to lift the sails and get it underway. I’m sure it takes a certain kind of dedication and love of the sea to want to spend days or weeks aboard a vessel like this, crossing the oceans to far away destinations.
