We were fortunate to visit London just a month before the Olympics came to town. Everything was all spiffied up, yet no streets were closed, nor had the large crowds arrived. Yes, it was crowded. London is always crowded. Since I’m not fond of huge crowds and avoid them when I can, I’m glad it wasn’t any busier than it was.
London looked great. Everything was clean and ready to entertain the world. The people were friendly and even the English policemen had a sense of humor (not that I gave them reason otherwise). I’m not sure how friendly and nice everything was after the visitors left the Olympics, but my guess is that the British humor and pride is just as strong.
